1. What we collect

We collect the minimum needed to run the site:

• Anonymous identifier — a random UUID stored in the dusknews_anon cookie so your votes and bookmarks count without forcing you to sign up. Not linked to any personal data. You can opt out via the consent banner.
• Language and theme preference — local cookies so the site remembers how you like to read.
• Server logs — IP address, user agent, and request URL, retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention. IP is hashed with a daily-rotating salt before being used to dedupe votes; the raw IP is never persisted to our database.

2. How we use it

The anonymous id is used to dedupe votes and remember your saved stories. Server logs are used to detect abuse and debug outages. We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties for marketing.

4. Data retention

The anonymous cookie is valid for one year and refreshed on each visit. Server logs are kept for 30 days. Vote and bookmark records keyed on the anonymous id are kept indefinitely or until you clear cookies.

5. Your rights — GDPR & India’s DPDP Act, 2023

If you are in the EEA / UK or India, you have rights to access, correct, port, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we don’t collect names, emails (unless you subscribe), or addresses, the only data tied to you is your anonymous id — clearing the dusknews_anon cookie deletes that link from your end. To request data deletion on the server side, email privacy@clarix.news with the cookie value (you can copy it from your browser’s devtools).

6. Children

The site is not directed at users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

7. Changes to this policy

Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page for at least 30 days before they take effect. The current version is dated May 2026.

8. Third-party advertising — Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on DuskNews. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. These advertising cookies enable Google to present ads relevant to your interests.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Google’s use of advertising cookies is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
